Job Summary
The Youth Intern is a summer position for a minor (15 - 17 years old) introducing participants to Petersburg Medical Center and working within the facility. The Youth Intern will learn about equipment within the facility, identifying and tagging equipment, and determining what is within the facility. The Youth Intern will gain an understanding of the facility, the different departments and learn about the areas within PMC.

Duties
  • Receive and review the list of current equipment. Visually identify, checking numbers and characters of each item.
  • Participate in recording the number, model and make of the items.
  • Note and record the maintenance schedule and record when the next check is due.
  • Check documentation, acknowledging items present.
  • May perform other duties as assigned in compliance with the Alaska Department of Labor laws and regulations pertaining to minors in the workplace.
Working Conditions
  • Walking, bending, stooping. May carry light items (clipboard, tags, tablet) and tagging items within the facility. Will work with direction from the department supervisor, lead or designee.
  • May use laptop or other clerical items.
Experience and / or Training
  • Ability to sit, move and /or stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality. Will need to have the ability to work efficiently, engaging professionally with staff and visitors.
  • Must be reliable, able to communicate appropriately and have basic computer skills.
Job Duration
The Youth Intern is a summer position, seasonal.
  • Paid position, four (4) hours per day, Monday - Friday, from June through latter August.
  • The Youth Intern position may grow into opportunities in the future.
Qualifications
Education. High school or home school student.
  • Must be able to pass a background check with a third party company, a State of Alaska Background Check Program (BCP) background clearance (if 16 or over) and drug screen (includes Marijuana).
  • Youth intern will in-process as an employee with parental or guardian consent.
  • Must be 15 years of age or older. Minors (under the age of 18) will have an approved State of Alaska work permit and adhere to the State of Alaska and US Department of Labor requirements for employment.
