Position Summary
The Tobacco Prevention Project Coordinator will support the three-year State of Alaska Tobacco Control and Prevention Grant focusing on the implementation of health systems change to strategies to increase the adoption of evidence-based best practices for treating tobacco use and dependence in the medical setting. This position will work staff in the Community Wellness team as well as the Joy Janssen Clinic and hospital, under the direct supervision of the Community Wellness & PR Manager.
Responsibilities
The Tobacco Prevention Coordinator will collaborate with key departments within PMC to develop and implement strategies for tobacco use treatment policies and procedures within the Medical Center that align with the current public health guidelines for tobacco use and dependence treatment. The State of Alaska Tobacco Prevention and Control (TPC) team provides resources, guidance and technical assistance to grantees and this position will serve as the primary contact with the TPC program.
- Facilitate PMC Tobacco Cessation Health System Change workgroup and lead project planning and evaluation efforts
- Work with healthcare teams to executive quality improvement measures to support tobacco screening, referrals, treatment and follow-up
- Monitor progress toward health systems, change goals and objectives and make recommendations on additional improvements based on outcome data
- Coordinate health education materials and media opportunities to promote cessation resources such as the Alaska Tobacco Quit Line
- Work with leadership to establish staff training opportunities to support tobacco screening and referrals
- Complete required training and attend technical assistance calls with the State of Alaska Tobacco Prevention and Control Team
- Assist with grant management tasks for State of Alaska Tobacco Prevention and Control Grant
- Assist with planning and implementation of PMC's Employee Wellness program
- Other duties as assigned related to this position

Required Knowledge

Job Specific Knowledge is listed below:
- Above average knowledge of quality improvement strategies and healthcare systems
- Knowledge of grant and fiscal management not required but beneficial
Qualifications
- Education. Associate or bachelor's degree in public health or other related field, quality improvement / assurance or related field
- At least two (2) years of related experience (preferred)
Requirements for Employment
- Background check - Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background investigation conducted through the State of Alaska in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Drug Screening - All employees must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening, which includes testing for marijuana.
- Immunization Compliance - Employees are required to meet all immunization requirements as mandated by the State of Alaska and Federal regulations governing healthcare facilities.
Position is part-time and to remain open until filled.
