Job Summary
Performs the duties as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse in a critical access hospital and nursing home facility. Will primarily work six 12 ½ hour night shifts and take 24 hours of call during a two week pay period. Uses nursing process to deliver care to patients. Must have a good working knowledge of the nursing process and strong basic nursing skills. Often works independently without direct supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Provides nursing care dependent on licensure, to patients in the acute care, swing bed, outpatient, long term care and emergency departments.
  • Provides nursing care in accordance with physician's orders and in conformance with recognized nursing techniques and procedures, established standards and administrative polices.
  • Continuously uses nursing process to provide patient care and thoroughly documents assessments, plan of care, interventions, responses and other pertinent details in an electronic health record.
Qualifications / Skills / Licensure
  • Must have current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or as a Registered nurse (RN) in the State of Alaska.
  • RN - Two (2) years of experience in Acute Care preferred. Experience in a wide variety of areas is extremely helpful.
  • Must be current in BLS and ACLS.
  • Use of EMR for documentation and must have a genuine interest in nursing and patient care.
  • A strong work ethic, self-motivation, critical thinking skills, good interpersonal skills, conflict resolution skills, initiative, patience, excellent communication skills, and good judgment are a few of the qualities need by a nurse at Petersburg Medical Center.
Requirements for Employment
  • Background Check. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background investigation conducted through the State of Alaska in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Drug Screening. All employees must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening, which includes testing for marijuana.
  • Immunization Compliance. Employees are required to meet all immunization requirements as mandated by the State of Alaska and Federal regulations governing healthcare facilities.
