Position Summary
The Materials Assistant works in the Purchasing Department with the Materials Manager. The Assistant helps when / where needed to ensure the Medical Center has the needed equipment, stock and supplies to operate. The job includes but is not limited to:
- Mail - Meter all outgoing mail / packages and take to the Post Office
- Retrieve incoming mail from Post Office Box. Stamp all mail "Received" with the current date and deliver to proper in-house mail boxes. Deliver packages to the correct department
- Receive, sticker and put away new stock when it comes in using departments proper procedures
- Input outdates in Excel spreadsheet when received
- Re-stock departments and fulfil any requisition for supplies sent to Materials Management
- Expense items to correct departments when taken from inventor daily
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School diploma with some college, experience in healthcare environment and with inventory preferable
- This job requires frequent bending, walking and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Computer experience helpful, especially Excel, Word, Outlook and the ability to type
- Able to deal with high demand, fast paced multi-departmental hospital needs. The individual must be highly organized and task oriented. Must possess the ability to prioritize responsibilities and handle multiple requests simultaneously
- Must be able to pass a State of Alaska Background Check and drug screen (including Marijuana)
