Position Summary
Provides clerical and billing support for the eldercare programs at Petersburg Medical Center.

Key Responsibilities
Maintains patients' confidentiality per HIPAA and facility regulatory and / or policy guidelines on privacy. Participates in regularly scheduled interdisciplinary team meetings. Upholds the mission, vision, and values of Petersburg Medical Center, acting as an ambassador for the Home Health department and its services. Participates in the planning and delivery of services within the Adult Day Program and Senior In-Home Services promoting high-quality eldercare and community wellness.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Greet visitors to the home health office, answers phones and manage the front desk to ensure a welcoming and efficient environment.
  • Manages physician referrals, computer entry of registration and scanning of all programs related to home health patient documents.
  • Extensive use of electronic medical records and financial computer systems while always maintaining confidentiality.
  • Supply ordering, storage organization, and general office maintenance tasks.
  • Attention to detail, strong communication, and general office maintenance tasks.
  • Works with the PMC billing office and staff on functions and projects as requested.
  • Handles insurance verification, ongoing eligibility, and preauthorization of accounts.
  • Evaluate both the front and back and consolidated billing process and queue claims for insurance billing. Track timeliness of the billing cycle and review remits to maximize appropriate reimbursement.
  • Troubleshoot, identify, and resolve claims issues, using a team approach.
  • Composes reports as needed on Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook.
  • May be asked to provide physical support to the adult day program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Patient care is always first. The Home Health Receptionist must possess the ability to work and manage multiple projects and activities simultaneously. Must have excellent communication skills with a team approach to success, flexibility and perform clerical and billing functions in a concise manner. Requires a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Experience. Two (2) years of experience, preferably in billing health insurance or in a healthcare setting.
  • Education. High school diploma or equivalent, with some college preferred. Must be able to utilize basic computer programs as a daily function.
Requirements for employment include:
  • Background Check. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background investigation conducted through the State of Alaska in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Drug Screening. All employees must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening, which includes testing for Marijuana.
  • Immunization Compliance. Employees are required to meet all immunization requirements as mandated by the State of Alaska and Federal regulations governing healthcare facilities.
