Job Summary

The Clinic Reception / Admissions position works closely with the public, answers phones, schedules appointments and registers patients. Is responsible for the receptionist duties at the Clinic - greets patients and ensures a timely flow of patients. Works in a team environment with Clinic office staff, clinical staff and providers.

Schedules all appointments and follow-up appointments, for the physician staff using the guidelines and preferences of each practitioner, taking into account scheduled meetings, patients and other obligations.

Responsible for all admission, registration paperwork, obtaining insurance information, entering information into the computer, completing updates of information as needed, and printing registration forms for each patient visit. Initiates workers' compensation and Fisherman Fund paperwork as needed. Completes insurance pre-authorization of services.

Maintains professional and calm demeanor in a fast-paced environment and maintains confidentiality and adheres to all HIPAA guidelines / regulations.

Will cross-train for other clerical positions in the Clinic. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate with some college preferred. A minimum of 2 years office experience, including computer and typing skills.
  • Excellent customer service and teamwork, written and oral communication, including skills in editing and proofreading to ensure a high quality of communication and documentation.
  • Interpersonal skills and good judgment needed. Ability to demonstrate a sense of urgency, initiative, responsiveness and attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude and decision making skills.
  • Team player and strong work ethic and dependability.
